some coincidence...

Last night after work I went to see the film “Traitor” which stars Don Cheadle. I won’t give any of the plot away by telling you that in the movie, the American Consulate in Yemen is bombed. In the movie, it is reported that 8 people were killed in the blast.

Fast forward to this morning: I awoke to CNN reports that the U.S. embassy in Yemen was actually bombed overnight and that 16 were reported killed. How eerie! I wonder had the bombers gotten the idea from the movie?? Not likely since the movie just hit theatres last Friday and terrorist take months and sometimes years to plan these attacks.

Anyway, the movie Traitor subscribes to the same Hollywood formula as others in the “spy action” genre like the Jason Bourne series. However, this film tries to start a dialogue on how religion can be used as a political tool and how it is the obligation of the true faithful to protect their respected faiths (be it Islam, Christianity or Judaism) from those few extremist who tarnish their peaceful natures.
